1. The Great Escape

Test your logic and escape skills with these fun escape games. Leeds is now home to three escape games for you to play. Whichever you choose, they’ll all see you taking on a series of challenges and solving clues and puzzles along the way in an attempt to escape the room. So whether you go for Tick Tock Unlock, The Great Escape Game or Locked In Games, the pressure is on. They’re a great teambuilding activity to try with your housemates.

2. Treat yourself at the newest shopping centre in Leeds

Victoria Gate opened its doors last year so if you haven’t been yet, now is the time to go! As well as the array of luxury shops and eateries, the architecture of the shopping centre is worth a visit alone. Victoria Gate is home to the largest John Lewis outside of London so why not treat yourself?

3. Visit the theatre

The theatre scene in Leeds is thriving and 2017 will see some great performances including Evita, Northern Ballet Casanova and Opera North’s Season of Deliciously Dark. If you’re more of a Shakespeare fan, Romeo and Juliet is due to be performed at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in March. You’ll never be short of choice!

4. Take on world’s biggest inflatable obstacle course

Gung-Ho! the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course is filled with enough air to pump up 100 million footballs. The course will return to Temple Newsam in May 2017 and will see around 5,000 runners sliding down the five storey-high, 200 foot-long water slide, as well as taking on another 9 obstacles, three of which are new this year. You can even raise money for Children In Need, with discounted tickets available for a good cause.

5. Welcome the arrival of a celebrity chef

Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White was born in Leeds and is returning to bring his Marco’s New York Italian to the Merrion Centre in spring 2017. The menu will include traditional dishes including Spaghetti di Pomodoro and will be served up in a stylish new restaurant.

6. Go to a music festival

Leeds is renowned for its music festivals. One of the most famous, Leeds Fest, is welcoming the likes of Muse, Major Lazer and Bastille. Live at Leeds have already announced Slaves, Wild Beasts and White Lies. Slam Dunk have lined up Enter Shikari, Don Broco and Bowling For Soup, and hopefully, OnRoundhay will be back in 2017 too.
