What do you do at HOP?

I ensure the Leeds Team at HOP are operating effectively and providing the best possible service to our Landlords and Tenants. I oversee a team of talented Property Managers, Lettings Negotiators and Lettings Administrators to maintain our extremely high standards.

In addition, I work with various third parties such as Leeds City Council, HMO Teams and Unipol to ensure our properties are compliant and safe. I also provide Project Management services to our Landlords who wish to develop and refurbish their properties.

What did you do before joining HOP?

I have always been involved in property since an early age, working for the family business, and have been very hands-on in completing a number of renovations and developments both professionally and personally over the years.

In total I have been working in property for over 20 years. I joined Let Leeds initially in 2011 and worked with the team for 5 years before joining a business in Cheshire within Land Acquisition. In 2018, I returned to Let Leeds – which has now rebranded to HOP – tasked with the project of further progressing the HMO and Student side of the business and to grow the portfolio of properties under management.

What is the best bit about working at HOP?

The best bit about working at HOP is the drive to improve and innovate what we do and how we do it, to ensure we offer the best service possible and continue to expand. Working within a company such as this, everyone has a role to play and can make a massive impact on its success.

Working in lettings and property management is a unique experience; Landlords rely on us to manage their investment. Some are experienced professional portfolio Landlords and for others it is their first investment property. Each requires a different approach but essentially the same focus applies; to ensure their properties let out to good tenants for a good market rent with minimal voids and are well maintained.

What are your hobbies?

Property is not just my 9-5, it’s something I enjoy and am genuinely passionate about. At weekends and evenings I enjoy spending time with my wife and my son.

An interesting fact about you?

I’m ambidextrous, right footed, left handed for writing and racket sports, but I throw darts with my right hand as well as golf. (I’m like a less talented Ronnie O’Sulivan).

What is your dream home?

My dream home is one that I build/renovate and would need to have character, modern touches, a view to die for through panoramic windows, a 10 car garage (one day), lots of land, and great efficiency.
