Bruntwood are working together with Kier Property to bring forward 3 Sovereign Square, located south of the train station, at the corner of Sovereign Street and Swinegate. Plans have been submitted for a 93,240 sq ft six-storey office building.
Councillor Richard Lewis of Leeds City Council said, “As the economic growth of Leeds continues to accelerate, it’s really encouraging to see Bruntwood bring forward this exciting development proposal, which will further enhance the quality of the city’s prime office space.”
Development has already begun in the area with No. 1 Sovereign Square, the new 61,000 sq ft future home of KPMG. The Sovereign Square site is a crucial part of the council’s plan to establish a new attractive setting for a city centre development. The development is to form a link between the retail core of the city centre and the ‘South Bank’ proposals, which include the new terminus for the HS2 eastern route.
In the proposals submitted, the ground floor will be a mix of retail and leisure. Green space is at the centre of the scheme, designed as a lunchtime retreat for workers, and also as a focal point for cultural events.
