In any business, customer satisfaction is of critical importance. For landlords in the private rented sector, it is no different. With the number of people looking for rental property increasing steadily year-on-year, landlords are willing to do what it takes to enhance their reputation and attract the very best tenants.
According to a survey by insurance provider Endsleigh, 90% of landlords have gone out of their way to make their tenants feel welcome, and 41% would unreservedly go the extra mile in order to keep their tenants happy.
The new research also found that half of landlords are satisfied with their current tenants, whereas 83% of tenants said they were happy with their current landlord.
As an example of what landlords are willing to do for their tenants, 28% reported that they would absorb the cost of rental increases to hold on to reliable tenants for a longer period, while 40% said they would redecorate the property at the request of the tenant.
Besides charging a fair rental price for the area, landlords think the thing tenants want most prior to moving in is a professional clean. However, tenants said they were more concerned about reliable Wi-Fi being installed.
A fifth of landlords ranked poor tenants and damage to the property as their biggest concern, while 19% said it was void periods, and 15% said it was the rising cost of maintenance. But despite the many things landlords have to worry about, 67% agreed that the benefits of renting out property outweighed the drawbacks.
