Evans Property Group, encouraged by recent movement in the Leeds office market, will be refurbishing a number of buildings in Leeds city centre, including a £5m facelift for Minerva House on East Parade.

The refurbishment programme will be carried out by Clegg Construction, which began earlier this week and is scheduled for completion in March 2014.

Evans’ portfolio director Alan Syers said, “This significant investment into a speculative refurbishment at Minerva House demonstrates our continued commitment to Leeds and our confidence in the city’s office market.

Jeff Pearey, of Jones Lang LaSalle, commented, “Businesses still highly value Leeds’s traditional office core and Minerva is in one of the most coveted locations. We anticipate significant levels of interest in this space.”

The Minerva project is just the start of a planned long-term strategic investment plan for the area, which will include transforming Capitol House and the former Greek Street car park.
